New LED Emergency Power Cut Light
No comments · Posted by admin in Emergency Lighting Products
Emergency Lighting Direct (SCL Direct) are proud to be the first online store to bring you a new LED Emergency Power Cut Light from the leading manufacturer Nightsearcher.
This light has 72 super bright LED’s which are powered either from the mains via the supplied plug in charger or for up to 10 hours (low output) and 6 hours (high power). LED’s have the edge over conventional fluorescent tubes in emergency lighting due to an instant on, longer expected lamp life meaning no tubes to replace.
To use this light as an emergency power cut light simply plug in to a standard 13 amp socket to charge, then in the event of power failure to the socket the light will automatically switch on. Due to the long life of the 6 volt internal battery, this light could be used for hours in locations where mains is not present, sheds, lofts and garages are ideal suggestions.
Nightsearcher products are tried and trusted by the military, rescue services and police worldwide, so you know this light will be there in your emergency.
Order before 1pm for next working day delivery, subject to stock. At the moment stocks are high, but order early to secure your light.

Emergency Lighting Help
The Fire Precautions Workplace Regulations and the Health & Safety at Work Act Regulations (Safety Signs & Signals). Require employers to provide adequate safety signs including fire action and means of escape.
As an employer you are responsible to imply that all exits are identified and these signs are clearly visible from anywhere in the workplace.
It is essential that all signs are positioned correctly and that in the event of a fire the lights operate via battery operation

Technical Help with how to fit Low Bay Luminaires in a building
Low bay fixtures should be used in areas where the bottom of the luminaire is less than 20 feet above the floor. Low bay fixtures are usually 22 – 28″ in diameter in order to spread the light evenly. Low bay HID lighting fixtures have optical refractors that cover the lamp and reduce glare. Their widespread distribution improves vertical illumination and permits spacing’s as much as two or more times their mounting height. In addition, they can be mounted up to 25′ when high vertical illuminance is required. Fluorescent fixtures are also good for low bay lighting due to their excellent uniformity and relatively low lumen package compared to HID.
Low Bay Lighting Fixtures
Standard low bay fixtures normally use HID (High Intensity Discharge) bulbs which is a special type of lighting that is much more intense than most other light sources. Metal Halide is most commonly used for indoor application since it emits a bluish white bright light that is much more pleasant to the eyes than HPS.
Sodium (SON) Lamps
Sodium lamps produce an orange coloured light similar to that of a street lamp. These lamps are often used in storage units where people are not working or carrying out manufacturing tasks.
Metal Halide (HQI) Lamps
Metal Halide lamps produce a crisp white light that is highly suitable for areas where people are working or carrying out manufacturing tasks.

Maintained and Non Maintained Lighting Differences
No comments · Posted by admin in Emergency Lighting Products
Emergency lighting is lighting designed for use in the event of a power failure. The most common type of fitting is a self contained type which is a unit with integral battery backup. This unit is wired in to the lighting circuit and monitors the mains power status whilst charging the built in battery. In the event of power failure the unit will illuminate usually for a period of up to 3 hours. The two most common types of fitting are maintained and non-maintained.
Maintained Emergency Lighting
A maintained fitting can be either wired to be permanently on or switched via a normal light switch or other suitable controller and then operate in the event of power failure.
Non-maintained Emergency Lighting
A non maintained fitting is not illuminated until the event of power failure.
